DIPL
The Digital Image Processing Lab was founded in 1985 within the Department
of Radiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. From the
beginning, its mission has been to research and develop innovative image
processing techniques for use in the clinical and basic research environments. Although 2D
techniques were initially used, early in its history the lab applied 3D
techniques to leverage all of the information available in 3D data sets.
Our areas of research include:
- automated fusion (or registration) of 3D datasets
- statistical atlas construction (human and rodent)
- implementation of statistical atlases in segmentation
- description of complex lesion change over time
- joint registration of multiple data sets
- motion correction in fMRI
Our techniques can be applied to a variety of image datasets:
CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, autoradiography, ultrasound, video data
